thebtskink and I appreciate both sides of Rocky and Rambo. There's no reason to have an extremist view on it - except when the movies insult our intelligence. We can joke about Rocky ending the Cold War, but he didn't actually do such a thing. He just got a crowd of people to cheer for him after an exciting boxing match. But when Rocky, a heavyweight champion, lost all his money and moved back to the ghetto, that was just stupid. If George Forman can make millions selling grills, Rocky can quickly bounce back through various options. That's the thing that still bugs me in Rocky Balboa and Creed, Rocky is a fucking restaurant owner. Like... really? I'm not saying he should be living in a mansion with Paulie's robot, but at least give him a food franchise.

NeverendingThe best adjective I can use to describe Rocky II is complacent. I can't see why this movie is considered the critical darling of the sequels in some circles. Dracula, that isn't a shot at you. I'be been seeing that movie higher than I expected in many recent rankings, to my bewilderment.
