It's based on a trickle of reviews, most from slight reviewers who probably wouldn't have been shared on the website ten years ago, so it will undoubtedly fall. But the consensus is pretty much what it has always been with these MonsterVerse movies: underwhelming characters and wildly entertaining action.

Don't hype me up I got burned on king of monsters.

The two Godzilla movies are shit, but Skull Island is really good. Even Dracula liked it and he hates anything that isn’t French.

I like Godzilla 2014, but not Skull Island.  That one gets worse the more I see it.

#15 and #18, respectively.

Skull Island wasn't listed, but if it were, probably around #9 seems about right. I thought that movie was wildly fun.

Also, I couldn't find confirmation before, but it looks like Godzilla's motion capture was once again performed by TJ Storm, who also played him in the previous two American Godzilla movies. Storm also provided motion capture for Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, Colossus in Deadpool, the mech suit in Avatar, the Predator in The Predator, and Parallax in Green Lantern. He had an on-camera role as one of the parkour gang in Punisher: War Zone (he was impaled on a fence then the Punisher broke his neck by jumping on his head).

Terry Notari also returned to play Kong after playing him in Skull Island. He did motion capture for Groot in Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame and Buck in Call of the Wild.
