My elevator pitch for what they should be doing with Jack Ryan is to start making movies that take these books more seriously and don't just view them as an excuse to make action/spy movies. I'd do them as period pieces set during the Cold War with an older and more experienced Jack Ryan whose exploits are closer to something like Zero Dark Thirty than Bourne Identity.

I didn't necessarily love what he was doing in the role either but he was the right age for the part. |
